Archetypal – not just a prototype as in the first in line. In literature when they talk about archetypes, their talking about a archetypal sort of character; the villain, the hero…, archetypes of various sorts. An archetype embodies the whole group, as in “we all sin in Adam.” Adam is a archetype, a representative. Adam is all of us. Archetypes refer to everyone and not just those individuals Adam and Eve. If something is true of all of us, then it’s archetypal, if it is only true of Adam or Eve, than that would be an individual focus.
